On February 11 YouControl signed the memorandum with the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection. This is a fairly young government body – it started working only in August 2019, having been reformed from the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.
The Ministry of Energy contributes to the increase of the information literacy of the population, provides data on the state of the environment in Ukraine, on the wastes management of enterprises. The Ministry is a founder of about 80 state-owned enterprises and intends to increase transparency in its industry. Checking of partners, candidates for positions in the Ministry and for positions of heads of state-owned enterprises is a key point in this process.
The YouControl team supports transparency initiatives in the energy and environmental area, the revelation of socially important data. The parties agreed on cooperation in this direction and outlined plans for further joint actions. In particular, training of the government body officials on the use of open data for the sake of avoiding corruption risks.
“We are grateful for this help, as the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection advocates for the maximum transparency of activity in the area of energy and environmental protection. Digitization always contributes to openness and the prevention of corrupt practices and violations of legislation, including environmental protection legislation. For our part, we provide access to information, publish open data, carry out necessary reforms,” Oleksii Orzhel, the Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection of Ukraine, said during the meeting.
“We are glad to cooperate with the first ministry which openly promotes transparency and contributes to the use of open data for the sake of improving the citizens’ lives. We support initiatives in this direction and are ready for the implementation of joint projects,” Nataliia Chornohub, the GR-manager of YouControl, commented.
Let us remind you that earlier YouControl signed the memorandum with the Cyber Police, agreed on cooperation with Derzhzovnishinform, the Anti-Monopoly Committee of Ukraine and the State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine.
